About the Dog Mama

Who is the Dog Mama?

My name is Madelaine Jack and I’m a first-time dog owner. I started this blog to share some of the things I’ve learned from my experiences. Being a dog mother, I decided to name my blog, Dog Mama Blog.

My hope is to help contribute to the ever-growing community of knowledge about pups and to encourage others to share their stories. Check out the blog and be sure to share your experiences and advice in the comments sections!

About my dog

Isla

dog playing tug-of-war

I brought little Isla home in December of 2016 and have had the pleasure of watching her learn and grow all of these months since! She is a very smiley girl and loves to play, tug-of-war most of all.

Isla is a blue merle Australian Shepherd that I got from Robin De Villiers (Robin’s Aussies), who is a fantastic breeder in Coldwater, Ontario.

We’ve been working on training her to do some tricks. She is an incredible jumper, so I’d like to find a constructive way to put that to use (any suggestions are welcome)!

Isla’s friend, Harley

dog sitting on a hill

Harley is a regular feature on the blog and is my friend’s dog. He’s 64 pounds of pure fluff and loves a good game of rough housing.

Unlike most huskies, Harley actually doesn’t bark or howl much, except for the low howls he emits when he greets his parents at the door.

Harley loves to lie on his back and get tummy rubs, but don’t mistake him for being lazy! He can easily pull you on a longboard at 28 km/hour!

He is a gorgeous boy to take photos of, but he rarely looks into the camera. Most photos where he does look into the camera involve a lot of treat bribery.
